Please contact the Concert Society
for details.
Our Society actively promotes aspiring and talented young talented artists who have exceptional ability to perform. We give these artists an opportunity to appear at our concerts by performing a curtain-raiser items for the main program and assisting in launching their careers as performing artists by giving them exposure. Our audience appreciates seeing these young artists perform, and it also encourages friends and family to attend our concerts.
We believe that the culture of appreciation of the performing arts must be handed down to the younger generation, and our young generation is enthused into an appreciation of the performing arts by seeing those of their own age group on stage. In addition, their performance inspires our community in generation and encourages creativity.
Local artists in the Blue Mountains community are given preference, but young performers from further a-field are also invited to perform.
Any young artists who wish to perform are encouraged to contact us.
An invitation to perform requires an audition by our committee, either by appointment or by seeing a performance by the artist at another venue. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they:
- have the ability to perform a well prepared, polished item on stage that can be played confidently to concert performance standard;
- are under formal music training and can provide a recommendation from a professional music teacher regarding their performance ability and support in preparing an item for performance; and
- permission and support from a parent or guardian to appear on stage for those who are under 18 years of age.
It is preferable for young artists to arrange their own accompanist, but an accompanist can be arranged if necessary.
A small fee is paid for the performer in the expectation of a performance to a high standard.
